TTS 501 Mount Kenya Climb (6 days)

Day 1: Transfer to Lodge
Pick up from Nairobi hotel and transfer to the Lodge, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon drive to the met station. A light hike is taken to help acclimatisation. Overnight at Met Station 10,000FT

Day 2: Climb - Gate (10,000ft) to Teleki Valley (14,000ft)
Hike up to the Teleki Valley for a spectacular view of the main peaks. Walking time approximately 4-6 hours. Overnight at Teleki Valley 14,000FT

Day 3: Climb - Teleki Valley (14,000ft) to McKinders Valley (14200)
Circumnavigation of the mountain starts after an early breakfast. Walking time is approximately 5 hours. Highest point reached is 15,000ft. Overnight at Mackinders Valley 14,200FT

Day 4: Climb & Descend– McKinders Valley (14,200) to Lenana Peak (16,355ft)
Ascent of Point Lenana, the third highest peak. The top is reached after about 4 hours of stiff walking. Altitude of point Lenana is 16,355ft. Overnight at Teliki Valley 14,000FT

Day 5: Descend – Teleki Valley to Gate
Descend the mountain and return to the Lodge. Overnight at lodge 6,505FT

Day 6: Back to Nairobi
Drive back to Nairobi.

TECHNICAL CLIMB
Usually when we are quoting for mountain climbing, we offer the clients upto Lenana point which is 4985m. This is the third highest peak preceded by the Nelion at 5188m and Batian at 5199m. To these two points, we offer what is called technical climb gear and a technical guide. 

This section is only left for specialist mountaineers or people who have done alot of practise.
This can be done over the 6 days programme but at an extra charge for the guide. This is an optional service but highly recommended. 

THE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED INCLUDES

  • Body Hernes, Pair Clampoons, Plain Carabinas 12pcs, Lockable Carabinas 2pcs, Figure-8, Slings 10pcs, Helmets, Rock Hammer, Rope
  • A Full Set Of Balay Devices Which Includes, Hexantrinx No 4 To 7, Friend, Rock Pitons, Shocknuts, Crong And Bectar Brakes.

The cost of USD 1200 per person for a minimum of two people transfers to and from Nairobi, all meals during the climb and professional climbing guide(s) are included. Drinks accompanying meals, gratuities, tips and items of person nature are not inclusive.

IMPORTANT:
Own climbing shoes, sleeping bag, hat and jacket, all personal hiking equipment, personal insurance and first aid kit.
Climbing seasons for Mt. Kenya are from mid-December to mid-March and from mid-June to the end of September.
